Medicare to Cover Opioid Treatment Program Services Starting in 2020
Get Ready to Participate in the New Benefit!
Starting January 1, 2020, CMS plans to pay for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) medications, toxicology testing, and counseling provided to Medicare Part B beneficiaries.
To participate in the new program, providers must be:
Certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and by accredited by a SAMHSA-approved accrediting body.
Enrolled in Medicare Part B.
